Who Is Hendrik Weitsz?

Hendrik Weitsz Ministries is not just about one man. It is about one man’s God. Hendrik has been sharing this message for fifteen years, and he invites others who need deliverance to participate in a journey to focus on God, and find true purpose in their lives through Him.
Hendrik is married and has four children, all boys. Judah is 13. Jeremiah is 11. Justin is 7. And Jonathan is 4. Hendrik is an avid four-wheeler, and can play a mean game of Risk. He and his wife also enjoy cooking together. Hendrik’s specialty is sauerkraut.

Hendrik wasn’t born until he was 21. Sound strange? Although he had lived for over two decades, he realizes in retrospect, that that first part of his life was actually a period of death. However, Hendrik was born again when he was 21. Up until that point in his life, Hendrik had persisted in a morass of selfish living. At seventeen, he threw off what he thought were the shackles of traditional Christian faith, and ran away from home with two friends from his Christian school.

During the four years that followed, Hendrik never turned back to his former life. He never made contact with his family. For all they knew, he could have died. For all Henrik cared, that was fine with him. He drank hard. Partied hard. Lived hard. And the whole time, he hated it. Hendrik knew that his life was incomplete, despite his thrill-seeking behavior and fun-craving attitude.
Through brushes with the law, fights with his friends, and eventually, intense hunger, Hendrik went back home. That meeting with his father, after four long years, was an emotional one. Hendrik says that the meeting between he and his father was like the meeting of the Prodigal Son and his father in Jesus’ parable. Despite Hendrik’s rash behavior and absolute rebellion, Hendrik’s father accepted him back. That night, the night he returned home, Hendrik accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.
Everything changed. Although it wasn’t easy, Hendrik was able to quit his drug addiction, drinking problem, and smoking. By the grace of God, he was able to break free from the chains of sexual addition. He completed his high school education and went on to receive Bible training on the undergraduate and graduate level from Grace Divinity School.
Hendrik has been the senior pastor at Grace Community Church for fifteen years. He considers himself unworthy of the spiritual blessings he has received, yet excited about the journey ahead.
